Rasūlullāh (sallallāhu alayhi wa sallam) blessed the universe with his birth on the 12th of this month. Therefore, the twelfth of Rabi’ Al-Awwal is the Night of Walādat (Mawlid), a sacred night in the hijrī calendar. During this month, Muslims should engage in reciting salawāt (durood) sharīf, such as Salat-Nariyyah, Salat-Munjiyyah and Salat Al-Fathiyyah as many times as possible.
To take full advantage of the spiritual benefits of this night, one should perform Tasbih Salāh and Khatm al-Anbiyā, the explanation of which can be found at the end of the book.
Intention for Tasbih Salāh should be as follows:
“O, Allah! I intend to pray Tasbih Salāh for your sake only. O Allah, in honour of your beloved whom you sent to enlighten the world, the crown of our heads, our Rasūl (sallallāhu alayhi wa sallam), grant me your forgiveness and grace. Allahu Akbar.” (Duas [Invocations] and Ibādahs [worship])
RESPECT IN BOTH SPEECH AND WRITING
When a person writes the blessed name of our Nabī (sallallāhu alayhi wa sallam) on a letter or book, they need to add (sallallāhu alayhi wa sallam) as well. There was a scribe in Kufa (Iraq) who used to write letters on behalf of people. After his death, people saw him in their dream and asked how he was doing. He said to them:
“My Rabb treated me kindly because whenever I wrote the blessed name of our Nabī, Muhammad (sallallāhu alayhi wa sallam) I never failed to write salawāt upon him.”
It is mentioned in a hadīth sharīf: “Whoever writes my name, adding salawāt (durud) sharif next to it, angels ask for forgiveness in favour of them as long as my name remains in that book.”
STANZA:
O, Karīm (Allah), allow us to accompany Mustafa
In Jannat-ul Firdaws, o Rahim (Allah)
Forgive us with your Mercy,
For the sake of that habib (beloved)
HE SECRET AT HARAM AL-SHARIF
The Wali, Sahl bin Abdullah Tustari (Rahmatullahi Alayhi) says: “Abdullah bin Salih (Rahmatullahi Alayhi) stayed long years in Makkah Al-Mukarramah after travelling for quite a long time. I asked him one day: “Why are you staying here for so long?” He replied: “Why shouldn’t I stay here? I haven’t seen any other place on the earth where rahmah (mercy) and barakah (blessings) descend more. From morning to evening, from evening to morning angels descend here. I witness many extraordinary incidents here. I see angels in several forms make tawaf (circumambulation) incessantly around the Holy Kabah. If I relate everything I see which people cannot comprehend, they will deny it.
Then I pleaded with him: “Please, for the sake of Allah, tell me some of the things you have seen.” All the awliya (saints) of Allah are present at this sacred land on the night of Friday, excluding no wali (friends of Allah). The reason why I stay here is to see some of them.” (Rawzur-Rayahin, Imam Yafii)
RABI’UL-AWWAL
Rabi’ul-awwal, which starts tomorrow, is the month Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) honoured this world by his birth. On the 12th of this month is a special night called Wiladat or mawlud, the birth of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam). Therefore, muslims should recite as many Salawat (durood) Sharif as possible throughout this month (such as Salat-i Nariya, Salat-i Munjiyyah, Salat-i Fathiya, etc).
