Umrah means “to visit.” Religiously, it is visiting the House of Allah in ihram, performing tawaf, sa’y between Safa–Marwa, and shaving or trimming the hair.
The Prophet ﷺ performed four Umrahs and one Hajj (Farewell Hajj).
The Prophet ﷺ said that performing Umrah in Ramadan carries the reward of performing Hajj with him (but does not replace Hajj’s obligation).
They include Laylatul Qadr — a night better than 1,000 months. Worship during these nights is greatly multiplied.

20 rak‘ahs is Sunnah Muakkadah according to the Sahaba, Tabi‘in, and classical scholars. Completing Qur’an (khatm) during Tarawih is recommended.
