About this departure

Seven nights, arranged so you can focus on worship

This is the departure for families in Maryland, Virginia and the District who would rather drive to Dulles than route themselves through New York with children and luggage.

You leave Washington Dulles on the evening of Wednesday, December 23 and you are back on the ground at Dulles at 2:45 PM on Thursday, December 31 — in time to be home before the year turns. The outbound connects once in Riyadh; the return is a single non-stop flight from Jeddah.

The route is Madinah first, and unusually, you fly directly into Madinah rather than landing in Jeddah and spending half a day on a coach. Three nights in Madinah al-Munawwarah — including Jumu’ah in the Prophet’s Mosque on December 25 — then the road to Makkah al-Mukarramah for four. Starting in Madinah gives you time to recover before entering ihram, which matters if this is your first Umrah or if you are traveling with young children or older parents.

Your last prayers of 2026 are offered at Masjid al-Haram — and you are home in Washington before the year turns.

Both hotels are within walking distance of the Haramain, so no daily shuttle is needed and you can return to your room between prayers. Breakfast and dinner are served daily as open buffets at both hotels. The whole journey falls within Rajab, the first of the three months that lead to Ramadan.

Imam Mustafa Kaya travels with the group from Dulles and back, leading each Umrah, explaining the Ziyarah sites, and answering the questions first-time pilgrims are often reluctant to ask.

Everything — flights, Saudi visa support, hotels, meals, transfers, guided Ziyarah and religious guidance — is arranged in one package.

Masjid al-Haram in Makkah al-Mukarramah during tawaf
Masjid al-Haram, Makkah al-Mukarramah — the closing four nights of this journey, a short walk from your hotel.

Outbound

Both legs are on one Saudia ticket. SV 38 leaves Washington Dulles at 6:10 PM on Wednesday, December 23 — an overnight flight of 12 hours 20 minutes on a Boeing 777-300 — and lands in Riyadh at 2:30 PM the next day, with 2 hours 25 minutes to change planes. The short second flight puts the group on the ground in Madinah at 6:35 PM, which is the real advantage of this routing: no six-hour coach from Jeddah after a night in the air. Hisar Tour staff meet you at Dulles and stay with the group through Riyadh and into Madinah.

Return and baggage

The return is a single non-stop flight: SV 35 departs Jeddah at 8:50 AM on Thursday, December 31 and lands at Dulles at 2:45 PM the same afternoon, 13 hours 55 minutes on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Because it is a morning departure, the group leaves Makkah in the small hours — see the last day in the itinerary. Two checked bags per passenger, 23 kg each, plus cabin baggage as permitted by Saudia.

Flight numbers, times, aircraft and connection times are as currently scheduled by Saudia and may change.2 Your final itinerary is issued with your travel documents.

Where you stay

3nights · Madinah al-Munawwarah

Valy Hotel or similar — 4-star

Madinah rewards unhurried time in the Prophet’s Mosque more than a full sightseeing list, which is why this itinerary leaves most afternoons and evenings unscheduled. A hotel you can walk back from makes that possible.

To Al-Masjid an-Nabawi: approximately 200 meters, a 3–5 minute walk1
Meals: daily open-buffet breakfast and dinner4

4nights · Makkah al-Mukarramah

Address Hotel Jabal Omar or similar — 5-star

The short walk is the point. In Makkah you will want to pray at the Haram five times a day, and the difference between a five-minute walk and a shuttle ride is the difference between going back for every prayer and going twice.

To Masjid al-Haram: approximately 350 meters, about a five-minute walk1
Meals: daily open-buffet breakfast and dinner4

Hotels are shown as named or similar. The last week of December is high season in both cities, and a named hotel can become unavailable because of allocation, cancellation or overbooking. If that happens, Hisar Tour provides a hotel of the same concept and standard: in Madinah, a 4-star hotel within approximately 200 to 400 meters’ walking distance of Al-Masjid an-Nabawi; in Makkah, a 5-star hotel within approximately 350 to 550 meters’ walking distance of Masjid al-Haram — under the terms of your booking. You are told of any change as soon as it is confirmed.

Hotel images are representative. Room configuration, furnishings and views may vary by final allocation.

Day by day

Madinah, then Makkah, then home through Jeddah

Departure

Wednesday, December 23

Wed, Dec 23

Departure from Washington Dulles

SV 38  ·  IAD 6:10 PM  →  RUH 2:30 PM (Thu)  ·  Boeing 777-300

Meet the Hisar Tour team at Dulles for group check-in in the afternoon. Your group leader coordinates baggage, seating and boarding, and explains what happens at the Riyadh connection. Because the route begins in Madinah, you do not enter ihram for these flights — that comes later in the week, on the road to Makkah. Dinner and a night’s rest on board.

Madinah al-Munawwarah

3 nights · Valy Hotel

Day 1 · Thu, Dec 24

Riyadh connection, arrival in Madinah

SV 1471  ·  RUH 4:55 PM  →  MED 6:35 PM  ·  after a 2h 25m layover

Land in Riyadh at 2:30 PM and change planes with the group; the second flight puts you on the ground in Madinah at 6:35 PM. A short private coach transfer brings you to the hotel, a few minutes’ walk from Al-Masjid an-Nabawi. Imam Mustafa Kaya explains the etiquette and layout of the mosque before you go in, and the group offers the first salam to the Prophet ﷺ that evening if the timing allows, otherwise after Fajr the next morning.

Rawdah entry requires a Nusuk permit with an assigned time slot. Your group leader assists with the application; access and timing are determined by the Saudi authorities.

Day 2 · Fri, Dec 25

Jumu’ah in the Prophet’s Mosque

No group activity is scheduled before Jumu’ah, by design — praying the Friday prayer in Al-Masjid an-Nabawi is the reason this day is kept open. Your group leader will advise when to leave the hotel to find a place, which on a Friday means earlier than usual. The afternoon and evening are yours for worship, rest, and finding your rhythm after the journey.

Day 3 · Sat, Dec 26

Madinah Ziyarah and Baqi

After Fajr, the men of the group walk to Jannat al-Baqi with the imam, who explains who rests there and why the visit matters. Then a morning guided Ziyarah by private coach to Mount Uhud and the resting place of the martyrs, Masjid al-Qiblatayn and Masjid Quba, narrated through Bluetooth headsets so you hear clearly without crowding around a guide. The evening is yours; this is your last night in Madinah, so pack tonight.

Makkah al-Mukarramah

4 nights · Address Hotel Jabal Omar

Day 4 · Sun, Dec 27

Ihram at Dhul Hulayfah, transfer to Makkah, first Umrah

Check out and travel to Makkah by private coach. The group stops at Dhul Hulayfah (Abyar Ali), the miqat appointed for those coming from Madinah, to bathe, change into ihram and pray two rak’ahs; your imam leads the talbiyah and walks through every step of the rites before you arrive. After check-in the group walks to Masjid al-Haram to perform the first Umrah together, with the imam guiding tawaf, sa’i and the closing of ihram.

Performing your first Umrah as a guided group, rather than alone in an unfamiliar mosque, is what first-time pilgrims tell us mattered most.

Day 5 · Mon, Dec 28

Orientation and second Umrah

A lighter day after the transfer. In the afternoon your imam delivers a session at the hotel on the history and etiquette of Masjid al-Haram. In the evening the group travels to Masjid al-Tan’eem to enter ihram and returns to perform the second Umrah. Participation is optional — some pilgrims prefer to spend the evening in worship at the Haram instead.

Day 6 · Tue, Dec 29

Makkah Ziyarah and third Umrah

Morning guided Ziyarah by coach to the Mashaer — Arafat, Mina and Muzdalifah — with Jabal al-Nour and Jabal Thawr viewed en route. For anyone considering Hajj in the coming years, seeing these places with a knowledgeable imam is useful preparation. In the afternoon the group continues to Ju’ranah to enter ihram and returns to perform the third Umrah.

Day 7 · Wed, Dec 30

The Haram at your own pace, and the farewell tawaf

No group activity is scheduled, by design. Tawaf, prayer, reading, rest — this day belongs to you and the Haram. Because the group leaves in the small hours, your farewell tawaf is performed today or in the last hours of the night rather than in the morning; your group leader advises on the quieter times. Pack before you sleep and keep a change of clothes and any medication in your cabin bag.

The journey home

Makkah → Jeddah → Washington

Day 8 · Thu, Dec 31

Pre-dawn transfer to Jeddah, then home

SV 35  ·  JED 8:50 AM  →  IAD 2:45 PM  ·  Non-stop

The coach to Jeddah leaves in the very early hours; your group leader confirms the exact time the evening before. The group travels to King Abdulaziz airport for the 8:50 AM departure and lands at Washington Dulles at 2:45 PM the same afternoon — home before the year turns, with the holiday weekend to recover.

This is the one demanding stretch of the week: a night cut short and an early transfer. Sleep when you can on Wednesday and eat breakfast on board rather than waiting for the airport.

The order and timing of activities may be adjusted because of flight operations, local regulations, prayer schedules, permit availability, traffic, weather or group needs. Ziyarah routes are subject to the access rules in force at the time of travel.

Guidance

Clear guidance from Dulles to your return

Who travels with you

Imam Mustafa Kaya accompanies the group from Dulles to Dulles — not a local guide who meets you on arrival. He leads each group Umrah, explains the Ziyarah sites, and is available for questions throughout the journey, including at the Riyadh connection.

Before you travel

All registered pilgrims are invited to a pre-Umrah webinar covering the rites of Umrah, what to pack, ihram, Saudi entry procedures, and what daily life on the trip actually looks like — including how entering ihram at Dhul Hulayfah works on this Madinah-first route.

Bluetooth headsets

Every pilgrim receives a headset for group Ziyarah and rituals, so you can hear your imam clearly in crowded areas without pressing in around him. With a group of this size, this is what keeps guided activities calm rather than chaotic.

Best suited to

Is this the right departure for you?

A good fit if you are:

  • Traveling from Northern Virginia, Maryland, the District, or as far as Richmond, Baltimore and Harrisburg, and want a group departure from Dulles rather than a drive to New York
  • Traveling as a family during the winter school break
  • Performing Umrah for the first time and want structured guidance from the miqat onward
  • Taking elderly parents and would rather land in Madinah than face a long coach from Jeddah after an overnight flight
  • Hoping to pray Jumu’ah in the Prophet’s Mosque and to close the year at Masjid al-Haram

Two things to weigh honestly:

The outbound is not a non-stop flight. You change planes in Riyadh with 2 hours 25 minutes between flights, which means a second boarding gate to find with children and hand luggage. What you get in exchange is landing in Madinah itself, instead of adding a six-hour coach to the end of an overnight flight. The return home is a single non-stop flight.

The last night is short. The return leaves Jeddah at 8:50 AM on December 31, so the coach out of Makkah goes in the small hours of that morning. The farewell tawaf is therefore done the day before or late that night, and the final stretch is tiring — worth planning for rather than discovering.

If a traveler uses a wheelchair or has limited mobility, please speak with a Hisar Tour advisor before booking so we can review what the Riyadh connection and the pre-dawn transfer mean in practice and arrange support where possible.

Registration deadline and payment

Registration for this departure closes on Saturday, October 31, 2026. Places are limited and are allocated in the order deposits are received; visa and ticketing deadlines are the reason the date is firm rather than a sales tactic.

A deposit of 30% of the package price per person secures your place. The remaining balance is due no later than Monday, November 23, 2026, thirty days before departure. Bookings without full payment by that date may be released.

You can pay during registration through our online system, or register first and pay by Zelle (hisartour@uama.us), bank deposit or wire transfer, check payable to HISAR USA INC, or credit card — subject to a 3% processing fee. Zelle, bank transfer and check carry no fee.

Security notice. Bank account details are sent only on your official Hisar Tour invoice after registration. Hisar Tour will never send new or changed payment instructions by unsolicited email or text. If you receive banking details you were not expecting, call +1 201-201-8992 before sending any funds.

Cancellation and changes

Deposit terms, refunds on amounts paid, name changes, airline ticket restrictions and visa-related conditions are governed by the HISAR USA INC Terms and Conditions, which apply to every booking. Airline and hotel penalties apply separately, and prices are subject to availability and exchange-rate changes until your booking is confirmed.

Please read the Terms and Conditions before paying your deposit. If anything in them is unclear, call us before you book and we will walk you through it, so expectations are clear from the outset.

Passports

Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the return date. Traveler names on the booking must match the passport exactly; corrections after ticketing are subject to airline fees.

Questions

About this departure

What are the flight details, and are the flights non-stop?

The return is non-stop; the outbound is not. SV 38 leaves Washington Dulles at 6:10 PM on Wednesday, December 23 and reaches Riyadh at 2:30 PM the next day, where the group changes planes after 2 hours 25 minutes and continues on SV 1471, landing in Madinah at 6:35 PM. Coming home, SV 35 departs Jeddah at 8:50 AM on Thursday, December 31 and lands at Dulles at 2:45 PM the same afternoon. Two checked bags of 23 kg each are included per passenger.

Why fly through Riyadh instead of straight to Jeddah?

Because it puts you on the ground in Madinah itself. A Jeddah arrival adds a coach journey of several hours at the end of an overnight flight, before anyone has seen a hotel room. This routing trades one extra boarding gate for a short flight that lands minutes from your hotel.

With children or elderly parents, that is usually the easier day.

Which city do we visit first, and how many nights in each?

Madinah first: three nights in Madinah al-Munawwarah (December 24–26) at Valy Hotel or similar, then four nights in Makkah al-Mukarramah (December 27–30) at Address Hotel Jabal Omar or similar. That is seven hotel nights. Starting in Madinah lets you recover from the journey before entering ihram, and it places Jumu’ah in the Prophet’s Mosque.

How far are the hotels from the Haramain?

Valy Hotel in Madinah is approximately 200 meters from Al-Masjid an-Nabawi, a three-to-five minute walk. Address Hotel Jabal Omar in Makkah is approximately 350 meters from Masjid al-Haram, about a five-minute walk. Neither requires a daily shuttle. Hotels are shown as named or similar; a replacement is of the same standard within the walking bands published on this page.

Where do we enter ihram on this route?

At Dhul Hulayfah, also called Abyar Ali — the miqat appointed for pilgrims traveling from Madinah, about nine miles outside the city. On Sunday, December 27 the group checks out, stops there to bathe, change into ihram and pray two rak’ahs, and makes the intention with the imam before continuing to Makkah. You do not enter ihram for the flights from Washington, because the route begins in Madinah.

How many Umrahs will we perform?

Three guided group Umrahs are scheduled: the first on arrival in Makkah on December 27, the second from Masjid al-Tan’eem on the evening of December 28, and the third from Ju’ranah after the Makkah Ziyarah on December 29. Participation in the second and third is optional — some pilgrims prefer to spend those evenings in worship at the Haram.

Where will we be when the year changes?

At home, or on your way there. The group lands at Washington Dulles at 2:45 PM on Thursday, December 31, so New Year’s Eve is spent in your own house rather than in an airport. Your last prayers of 2026 are offered at Masjid al-Haram before the pre-dawn transfer. The journey also falls within Rajab, the first of the three months leading to Ramadan.

Is the Saudi visa included?

Yes, for eligible passports. Saudi tourist visa processing and the health insurance attached to it are included for U.S. passport holders and other eligible nationalities, and the Hisar Tour office supports you through the documents. If your passport is not eligible, an Umrah visa is required at $250 per person. Tell us your nationality before booking and we will confirm which applies to you.

Are breakfast and dinner included?

Yes. Daily open-buffet breakfast and daily open-buffet dinner are included at both hotels for all seven hotel nights. Lunch, room service and meals outside the hotel are not included. Please tell your Hisar Tour advisor about dietary or medical requirements before departure so we can raise them with the hotels in advance.

Who guides the group?

Imam Mustafa Kaya accompanies the group from Dulles to Dulles — not a local guide who meets you on arrival. He leads each group Umrah, explains the Ziyarah sites, and answers questions throughout the journey, including at the Riyadh connection. Every pilgrim receives a Bluetooth headset, and all registered pilgrims are invited to a pre-Umrah webinar.

What does the starting price include, and what do the room types mean?

$3,600 is per person based on quad occupancy — four travelers sharing one room, families only. Triple is $3,750 per person and double is $3,950. A child aged 2–8 sharing without a separate bed is $2,568 and an infant under 2 without a seat is $450; both need an accompanying adult. All prices are in U.S. dollars and include the flights, hotels, meals, transfers and every guided activity listed.

What deposit is required, and when do registration and payment close?

Registration for this departure closes on Saturday, October 31, 2026. A deposit of 30% of the package price per person secures your place, and the balance is due by November 23, 2026, thirty days before departure. Credit card payments carry a 3% processing fee; Zelle, bank transfer and check carry none. Deposit and refund conditions are set out in the HISAR USA INC Terms and Conditions.

What happens on the last day, given the 8:50 AM flight?

The coach out of Makkah leaves in the very early hours of Thursday, December 31, and your group leader confirms the exact time the evening before. Because of that, the farewell tawaf is performed on December 30 or in the last hours of the night rather than on the morning of departure. Pack before you sleep, keep a change of clothes and medication in your cabin bag, and rest on the flight home.

How many school days will my children miss?

Probably none, but check your own district. The departure is Wednesday, December 23 and the group is home on the afternoon of Thursday, December 31. Most school calendars in the Washington, Maryland and Northern Virginia area begin the winter recess in the week of December 21, so the trip usually sits inside the break. Confirm your district’s dates before booking and we will check the fit with you.

Is Rawdah access guaranteed?

No. Entry to the Rawdah requires a permit issued through the Nusuk platform with an assigned date and time slot. Your group leader will help you apply and will explain the process during the pre-Umrah webinar. Rawdah access cannot be guaranteed by Hisar Tour or any tour operator, because permits and entry times are controlled by the Saudi authorities.

Can the itinerary change, and what happens after I book?

The order and timing of activities may be adjusted because of flight operations, local regulations, prayer schedules, permit availability, traffic, weather or group needs. Submitting a registration form does not confirm your place — your seat is held once the deposit is received and accepted, after which you receive written confirmation, a document checklist and your payment schedule. All bookings are subject to the HISAR USA INC Terms and Conditions.
