There is one official road to Hajj from North America, and it runs through Nusuk.
Nusuk Hajj is the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s platform for pilgrims from Muslim-minority countries, including the United States and Canada. No agency can sell you a Hajj visa outside it. Checked on 20 September 2026, the platform still shows the 1447 season, so the 1448 / 2027 window has not opened. This guide covers the whole process, and especially the parts you can finish today.
This page is about how the platform works: the ten stages, the two files that block most people, what can be changed later and what cannot. Nothing for the 1448 season has opened. We check the platform directly rather than relying on second-hand reports, because every autumn brings industry chatter about “2027 registration” that turns out to be the platform’s long-standing generic interest form.

Inside the platform your application moves through ten tracked stages, shown as a progress bar on every screen. The useful thing is not the list itself but knowing which stages you control and which ones simply wait.
Stages 1 to 4 can be finished early and then sit and wait; nobody is competing with you there. Stages 5 to 9 are the competitive window, and that is where packages sell out. So the whole game is to arrive at stage 5 with stages 1 to 4 already behind you.
Two uploads decide whether registration takes ten minutes or ruins an evening: a scan of your passport and a passport-style photo. Both have strict limits, and both reject a file straight off a modern phone.
This is the detail that catches people. 200 × 200 is a square. A phone portrait is 4:3 or 3:4, so shrinking it does not help — it has to be cropped to a square first, then resized. People scale a tall photo down to 200 pixels wide, get a 200 × 267 file, and cannot work out why the platform refuses it.
There is a shortcut. The US passport photo standard is 2 × 2 inches — already square, already on a plain white or off-white background, already taken within the last six months. If you have a recent US passport photo, it is the right shape for Nusuk and only needs resizing. Canadian passport photos are 50 × 70 mm and are not square, so they need cropping first.
400 × 800 is a tall rectangle, while a passport data page photographed flat is wider than it is tall. Scan or photograph the page, then resize so that neither side exceeds its limit — the image must fit inside 400 wide by 800 tall, not match it. Keep the whole page readable; a cropped scan that cuts off the machine-readable lines at the bottom causes problems later.
Go to hajj.nusuk.sa, select your country of residence, register with your email and phone number, verify, and set a strong password.
Use only the official address. Every season, look-alike sites appear in search results and in messages. The platform will never contact you asking for your password or a verification code.

The Saudi package is paid inside the platform, by loading funds into your own e-wallet and booking from it. Two rules protect you:
The Hajj visa is issued through the same system after your package is booked and paid; there is no separate embassy application. What remains is everything Nusuk does not do — flights from North America, insurance guidance, ihram and gear, and knowing what you will actually be doing in Mina, Arafah and Muzdalifah. Not as of 20 September 2026 — the platform still shows the 1447 season. Based on the previous cycle, when accounts opened on 7 October 2025 and package sales on 1 February 2026, registration for 1448 is expected in autumn 2026 and sales in early 2027. Both are estimates. You can create your account and prepare your documents now.
No. For pilgrims from Muslim-minority countries, including the USA and Canada, Nusuk Hajj is the only official channel. Any offer of a Hajj visa outside the platform should be treated as a scam. You also cannot travel to Hajj on a tourist, Umrah or work visa.
As shown on the platform in August 2026, the passport scan must be PNG or JPG within 400 × 800 pixels and 1 MB, and the personal photo must be PNG or JPG within 200 × 200 pixels and 1 MB, on a white background. The 200 × 200 limit is square, so a phone portrait has to be cropped square before it is resized. A recent US passport photo is already 2 × 2 inches and only needs resizing.
The US State Department requires six months of validity beyond your arrival date in Saudi Arabia, plus two blank pages for entry. For a May 2027 arrival that means validity through at least early November 2027. Check the blank pages as well as the expiry date.
Booking and payment happen in your own Nusuk account. A legitimate US agency guides you through registration, helps you choose the right package, and organizes flights, group leadership and on-the-ground support around the Nusuk core. It never asks you to pay for the Saudi package itself outside the platform.
Capacity is limited and demand from North America grows every year. If you miss the window, the productive path is to perform Umrah in the meantime and enter the next cycle fully prepared — account verified, files ready, budget saved.
