Hajj 2027 from the USA: Complete Timeline

Hajj 2027 · Planning · Updated August 2026

Hajj 2027 is expected in mid-May — but your journey starts now, nine months earlier.

For US and Canadian pilgrims, the road to Hajj runs through the official Nusuk platform: registration expected in late 2026, package sales in early 2027, and departure around early-to-mid May 2027. This is the complete month-by-month timeline — what happens when, and what you should be doing at each stage.

Hajj · ~May 14–19, 2027*
Registration · expected late 2026*
Budget · $10k–$15k+ (2026 actual)

The most common mistake in Hajj planning is treating it like a vacation booking — something you arrange a couple of months ahead. The Nusuk cycle doesn’t work that way: the pilgrims who travel comfortably in May are the ones who acted the previous autumn. Here is the full picture, based on the 2026 season’s actual schedule, with every unconfirmed date labeled as expected.

Stage by Stage: What to Do and When

Now — Fall 2026: The Preparation Window

Everything in this stage is fully in your control, costs almost nothing, and determines how the rest of the timeline goes for you:

  • Check your passport today. It must remain valid at least six months beyond your return — if it expires before December 2027, start the renewal now. This is the deadline people miss.
  • Create your Nusuk account at hajj.nusuk.sa and verify your email. Our step-by-step registration guide shows every screen.
  • Prepare your two uploads — passport scan and passport-style photo, resized to the platform’s strict limits.
  • Decide who is traveling and plan to register family members as companions under one booking.
  • Set your budget. In 2026, complete costs for US pilgrims typically ran $10,000–$15,000+ per person. Our cost guide breaks down where the money goes.
  • Join a group’s pre-registration list so someone alerts you the day anything opens.

Late 2026 (expected): Registration & Verification

Based on the 2026 cycle — when accounts and verification opened in early October 2025 — the 2027 registration window is expected in late 2026. You complete your application, upload documents, and go through identity verification. This stage is not competitive; it is administrative. Finish it early so you can wait calmly while others rush.

Early 2027 (expected): The Competitive Window

Package sales are the moment the whole timeline builds toward. In the 2026 cycle, sales opened February 1 and popular categories sold out within days. When the window opens you will need three things already done: a verified account, a funded e-wallet, and a decided budget with a shortlist of package types — which Mina camp category, which hotel distance, which duration. Choosing between real packages under time pressure is where knowing the providers and what runs behind the packages pays off most.

The expensive mistake: waiting for official announcements before doing anything. Registration windows have been announced on short notice, and the sales window rewards only the prepared. If you start creating your account the day sales open, you are racing verification deadlines while packages disappear.

February – April 2027 (expected): Ramadan, Seminars & Paperwork

Ramadan 1448 is expected around February 8 – March 9, 2027. For booked pilgrims this is the preparation season: visa processing runs through Nusuk after booking, group flights are ticketed, and serious groups run their education programs — Hisar Tour’s seminar series runs from Ramadan until departure, covering the rites step by step, health preparation, and the honest realities of Mina, Arafah, and Muzdalifah. Physical preparation belongs here too: daily walking now is the cheapest comfort upgrade you can buy for the Mashair days.

Early May 2027 (expected): Departure

Groups typically depart in the days before 8 Dhul Hijjah, often spending time in Madinah or Makkah before the Hajj days begin. Your final travel file — tickets, visa, day-by-day program — arrives before departure, and from the airport meeting point onward you travel as a group with your leader.

~May 14–19, 2027 (expected): The Hajj

  • 8 Dhul Hijjah — Tarwiyah (~May 14*). Pilgrims move to the tent city of Mina.
  • 9 Dhul Hijjah — Arafah (~May 15*). The heart of Hajj: the day of standing and supplication on the plain of Arafah.
  • 10 Dhul Hijjah — Eid al-Adha (~May 16*). Muzdalifah night, Jamarat, sacrifice (Hady), and Tawaf al-Ifadah.
  • 11–13 Dhul Hijjah — Tashreeq (~May 17–19*). The Mina days and Jamarat, then the farewell Tawaf.
Why the group matters most here: the Mashair days are logistically the hardest part of any pilgrimage — millions of people, heat, distances, and a schedule set by rite, not preference. An experienced imam who has led these days before, and a group that moves together with a plan, is the difference between confusion and worship.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I start planning Hajj 2027 from the USA?

Now — August–September 2026 is the ideal window. Registration is expected to open in late 2026, and the pilgrims who book successfully when package sales open are the ones whose accounts, documents, and budgets were ready months earlier. Passport renewal alone can consume several weeks.

When does Nusuk registration open for Hajj 2027?

Not yet announced. In the 2026 cycle, registration opened in early October 2025 and package sales on February 1, 2026 — so late 2026 and early 2027 are the expected windows for the 2027 season. These are estimates based on the previous cycle, not official dates.

When exactly is Hajj 2027?

Hajj 2027 is expected around May 14–19, 2027 (8–13 Dhul Hijjah 1448 AH), with the Day of Arafah on or near Saturday, May 15. Final dates are confirmed by the official Dhul Hijjah moon sighting in Saudi Arabia, roughly ten days before Hajj begins.

How much time off work do I need for Hajj?

Most complete programs from North America run roughly two to three weeks including travel, time in Madinah and Makkah, and the Hajj days themselves; shorter and longer packages exist. Exact durations for 2027 will be known when packages are released — plan your leave request around the expected mid-May window with flexibility on both ends.

What can I do if I miss the Hajj 2027 window?

Perform Umrah in the meantime and enter the 2028 cycle fully prepared — account verified, documents ready, budget saved. Demand from North America grows every year, so the earlier you are ready in each cycle, the better your options.
