nusuk e-wallet hajj payments

Hajj 2027 · Nusuk Payments · Updated October 2026

You pay for a Nusuk Hajj package from your own e-wallet inside the platform, funded by Visa or Mastercard or by bank transfer to an IBAN in your name.

The wallet balance has to cover the package, the flight and any extras for everyone on your account before you can book, and the money is held and spent in Saudi riyals. Nusuk says payments cannot be made through any outside party. As of 10 October 2026 the platform is still showing the 1447 season, so the rules below are the ones it publishes today; 2027 packages and prices have not been released.

Deposit methods · card or IBAN transfer
Currency · SAR
Partial refunds · not allowed

Most of the anxiety around Hajj payments comes from one fact: a large sum leaves your US bank account months before you travel, and it goes to a Saudi platform rather than to a company you can visit. This guide sets out how that money moves, using the wording of Nusuk’s own Help & Support pages, and adds the practical points that matter when you’re paying from the US or Canada. If you haven’t created your account yet, start with our Hajj 2027 page and the step-by-step Nusuk registration guide.

Where the E-Wallet Sits in the Nusuk Process

Nusuk’s home page sets out ten steps for registering and booking. The wallet comes sixth, after your application has been verified and before you look at packages:

1Create an account
2Upload your documents
3Fill the application
4Application verification
5Select preferred category
6Top up e-wallet
7Browse service providers
8Select your preferred package
9Book your package
10Review itinerary

The order matters. Nusuk allocates places on a “first-come, first-served” basis, and its FAQ says reservations “are confirmed for those who complete their package purchase and payment on the platform”. There is no separate deposit or pay-later stage: you cannot buy a package unless the wallet already holds enough to pay for it. In practice, the wallet is what turns your registration into a booking, which is why it’s worth sorting out well before packages open.

The rule in Nusuk’s own words. Asked whether package payments can be settled outside the platform, Nusuk answers that “payments cannot be made through any external platform or entity” and recommends “not paying amounts to any external parties or intermediaries to ensure you receive all services and avoid fraud.” That is why the Nusuk package price is never paid to us, or to any other organizer.

How to Fund the Wallet

Nusuk lists two deposit methods.

Card
  • Credit cards issued by Visa or Mastercard.
  • The wallet is credited in riyals; how the charge is converted on your statement depends on your card issuer.
  • Ask your card issuer before release day whether a foreign transaction fee applies and whether a large single charge to a Saudi merchant needs pre-approval.
Bank transfer
  • An international transfer to a unique IBAN that Nusuk assigns to each registered pilgrim.
  • The IBAN is shown to the main account holder; it is not shared between pilgrims.
  • Your bank sets its own wire fees and exchange rate, and intermediary banks can take a deduction, so the amount credited can be lower than the amount sent.

Nusuk is explicit that the amount credited may differ from the amount you sent: “Funds are deposited and paid for services using Saudi Riyals”, and “conversion rates may vary based on exchange rates at the time of deposit and other factors”. Plan for a small gap rather than funding to the exact riyal.

Nusuk won’t take a direct payment at checkout, only the balance already in your wallet. The funding has to be done before the moment you want to book.

Before you send anything

  • Copy the IBAN from your own Nusuk account, never from an email, a WhatsApp message or a screenshot someone sends you.
  • If you plan to wire, ask your bank how long an international transfer to a Saudi account usually takes, and what the cut-off time is for same-day sending.
  • Note exactly which card or account you used. Refunds go back the same way, and for bank refunds Nusuk requires the same account details used for the deposit.

Paying for a Family

Nusuk lets one person act as the family supervisor and manage everyone from a single account. The FAQ sets out how the money works:

  • You can add up to seven family members, each verified by a code sent to their own email.
  • All family members must live in the same country.
  • Only the supervisor deposits money and buys packages. Linked members “cannot deposit funds into their own wallets”, and do not need to.
  • Someone who already has a balance in their own wallet cannot join a family account until they have refunded it.
  • Balances cannot be moved from one pilgrim’s wallet to another.

The practical consequence: decide who the supervisor is before anyone deposits. If your father funds his own wallet and you later try to add him to yours, he has to request a full refund first, with the bank and currency deductions that come with it. Our Nusuk Hajj FAQ covers the account and document side of family registration.

How Much to Put In

Nusuk’s rule is that the wallet must hold “sufficient balance equal to the package price, flight tickets, and any additional services for both the main pilgrim and all linked family members”. So the target is the full total for everyone, in riyals, plus a margin for exchange movements.

Nobody can give you the 2027 figure yet, because Nusuk has not published 2027 prices. For a planning range, the last-season references shown on our Hajj 2027 packages page put the land package for our programs at SAR 31,890 to SAR 34,745 per person in a quad room, with a guided group flight from the USA adding about SAR 10,000.* Those are 1447 references, not 2027 prices. The Hajj cost guide for the USA and Canada breaks the rest of the budget down.

Why overfunding has a cost. Nusuk doesn’t allow partial refunds: “You must request a full refund of the balance.” If you deposit far more than you need, getting the surplus back means refunding the whole balance, with banking fees and currency conversion deducted, and, if you haven’t booked yet, depositing again. Aim for the expected total plus a modest margin, not double.

Booking, Flights and Confirmation

When packages open, booking draws on the wallet in one go. A few rules from Nusuk’s FAQ shape how that day goes:

1

The flight is part of the purchase

Nusuk says you “must select the appropriate flight through Nusuk Hajj platform to confirm your booking and complete your package purchase”. You can take a flight organized by the service company or search custom flights through the platform; either way it is paid from the wallet, and airlines “require immediate payment when booking a seat”.

2

Prices on custom flights can move

Because custom flights come from an international booking system, Nusuk warns that seat availability and prices “can change at any moment until payment is made”. A margin in the wallet protects you here too. One booking can hold up to 8 seats.

3

Confirmation takes minutes

Nusuk says confirmation “takes just a few minutes after completing the payment process” and asks you not to leave the page until the confirmation message appears. If the page doesn’t refresh and confirm, contact Nusuk support directly before trying again.

Before release day, it helps to know which category and package you want. Our guide to Nusuk Hajj package categories, camps and hotels explains what each choice changes, including the Mina camp, which you select while configuring the package.

From the day you deposit, the money sits in your own Nusuk account in riyals, not with a company in Makkah or at home. Keep a record of every transfer, refund request and confirmation.

Refunds and Cancellations

Money you deposited but have not spent

You can request a refund of your wallet balance at any time. The refund policy, with its fees and deductions, is shown before you confirm. Refunds go back to the same card or bank account used for the deposit, can take several days depending on the banks involved, and, as above, must be for the whole balance. You also cannot delete your Nusuk account while there are funds in the wallet.

A package you have booked

Cancellation is possible for all or some family members, but Nusuk says it “will incur some service fees according to the cancellation policy outlined during the process”, because some services are committed as soon as the booking is confirmed. You cannot cancel only the flight; the whole package has to be cancelled, and some tickets are non-refundable. Bookings cannot be transferred to another person. If something extraordinary prevents you from travelling, Nusuk asks you to register your case with its support team, with documents.

Nusuk support: support@hajj.nusuk.sa, or the unified number +966 920031201, which Nusuk lists as available around the clock. Keep screenshots of every deposit, refund request and booking confirmation.

What Is Paid Outside Nusuk

Some costs of Hajj never pass through the wallet: getting to your departure airport if you live away from it, vaccinations, personal spending, and any service a US organizer provides outside the platform. Our own pre-departure help is an example; what is free and what is a paid option is set out on our Nusuk registration support page. The two rules we hold ourselves to are simple. The Nusuk package price is never paid to us. Anything we charge you for is set out in writing before you pay it.

If an organizer invoices you for something, ask what it is, whether it is also inside your Nusuk package, and get it in writing. A charge that duplicates something the platform already sells is the one to question. Our twelve questions to ask before you pay help with that conversation.

Red Flags

  • A request to send the package price to a company or a person. Nusuk says packages and payments cannot be handled by any outside entity.
  • An IBAN sent to you by message. Your IBAN is in your own account. Use that one.
  • A request for your Nusuk password or verification codes. No genuine organizer needs them; we will never ask for your Nusuk password, verification codes or e-wallet credentials.
  • A promise of a guaranteed place. Nusuk says registration does not mean acceptance, and places are confirmed only when a package is bought and paid for on the platform.

If you want a second pair of eyes on any of this, the people who check it with you should be able to explain which company runs your package on the Saudi side; our explainer on who really runs Nusuk Hajj packages covers that.

How do I pay for Hajj on Nusuk?

You top up your Nusuk e-wallet by Visa or Mastercard credit card, or by bank transfer to the IBAN Nusuk assigns to you, then book the package and flight from that balance. Direct payment at checkout without the wallet is not allowed.

Can I pay my Hajj package to a travel agent?

No. Nusuk states that payments cannot be made through any external platform or entity and recommends not paying amounts to outside parties or intermediaries. The Nusuk package price is never paid to us.

Why did less money arrive in my wallet than I sent?

The wallet works in Saudi riyals, so exchange rates at the time of deposit change the amount credited. Bank and intermediary fees on an international transfer can also reduce it.

Can I get part of my wallet balance back?

No. Nusuk only allows a refund of the full balance, returned to the same card or bank account you used, with any fees and conversion deductions shown before you confirm.

Does each family member need their own deposit?

No. The family supervisor deposits for everyone linked to the account and buys their packages. Linked members cannot deposit into their own wallets.

All Nusuk rules quoted here were read on hajj.nusuk.sa (home page and Help & Support FAQ) on 10 October 2026, while the platform was still showing the 1447 season. Payment methods, refund terms and fees can change for 1448 (2027); check the platform before you transfer money. *Last-season land-package references and the approximate group-flight figure are from hisartour.com/hajj/packages/ as of October 2026; they are not 2027 prices. Nothing here is financial advice. Last reviewed: October 2026.
